A Welcoming School for All: School of Sanctuary
At Lilycroft Primary School, we believe that everyone deserves to feel safe, included and valued.
As a proud School of Sanctuary, we work hard to create a culture of welcome for all children and families, especially those who are seeking refuge or have experienced displacement.
In 2024, we were thrilled to be reaccredited as a School of Sanctuary—a reflection of our ongoing commitment to supporting every child, no matter their background. Our pupils and staff have worked tirelessly to maintain a school environment where kindness, inclusion and empathy are at the heart of daily life.
This commitment is deeply rooted in our school’s character values of RESPECT:
- Resilience
- Empathy
- Self-awareness
- Passion
- Excellence
- Communication
- Teamwork
These values are more than just words—they shape the way we treat one another, how we learn and how we build a compassionate school community.
As part of our work, we have engaged in meaningful fundraising efforts, supporting refugee families in our local area. More importantly, we teach our children what it means to truly welcome others—to stand in someone else’s shoes, to show kindness and to make sure everyone feels they belong.
At Lilycroft, being a School of Sanctuary isn’t just a title—it’s who we are.

Proud to be awarded the School of Sanctuary Award
